Implementing ICT4D solutions: Experiences from CRS Nigeria LIMITED

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international development organization whose focus is on provision of Agriculture, Health and Emergency Relief Services to support and improve the lot of poor and vulnerable people in more than 100 countries all over the world. CRS-Nigeria is implementing several agriculture and nutrition programs where ICT4D technology is deployed. This presentation provides an insight into CRS Nigeria Program's experience since December 2013 in the deployment of ICT4D in agriculture and nutrition programs. It provides a brief overview of two projects, the Sustainable Cassava Seed Systems (SCSS) project and the Feed the Future Nigeria Livelihoods project. The major highlights of the presentation will include discussion of the implementation of ICT4D solutions in the projects, the tradeoffs between paper based and mobile data collection and the methodology used in developing forms, collecting data, analysis of the data and the challenges faced in the process. It will also provide insight into how knowledge of CRS staff and partner organizations implementing the projects has been improved with respect to ICT4D programming.
