The need; background 
- There are 450 million smallholder farmers in the world supporting 2 billion people in their households.  Smallholder farmers, while responsible for 70% of the world food production are also poor and majority of them are living near the margins of society.  
- SourceTrace Systems considers them as vital part of addressing the issues of global food safety and security and achieve sustainable agriculture.  
- Producing enough food for growing population while ensuring the ethical production in order to minimize the environmental impact on the planet and equitable treatment of farmers is one of the major challenges of our generation.
